CTET Syllabus (सिलेबस)

CTET Syllabus covers subject knowledge, awareness of concepts/subjects with their criteria of marks. CTET Exam is conducted in two stages, Primary Stage or Paper 1 and Elementary stage. One can appear in both Paper 1 and 2 if you have selected the option in the CTET Online Form. The qualification of both papers will make the candidate eligible for the elementary class teaching, that is V to VIII. The syllabus for Paper 1 and 2 is given separately and topic-wise. CTET Negative Marking or Not?

      • All questions in CTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four alternatives provided. One correct answer is to be chosen.
      • Each correct answer carries one mark and there will be no negative marking in CTET
      • This marking scheme will be helpful to calculate/predict scores while the CTET answer key is available.

CTET Qualifying Marks

Candidates appearing for CTET are considered CTET qualified only when they clear paper 1 OR both paper 1 and 2. A minimum score is needed for CTET Qualification.

The qualifying score is 60% for General category candidates, while it is relaxed for the reserved category.

CTET Qualifying Marks for SC/ ST category is 55%.

The official notification clearly mentions:

“Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as
SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled”

Note: Candidates who qualify for Paper 1 despite appearing for both paper 1 and paper 2 will also be considered CTET qualified.

Also, as per CTET Rules,

      • School managements (Government, local bodies, government-aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently-abled persons, etc., following their extant reservation policy.
      • Should give weightage to the CTET scores in the recruitment process, however, qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment

CTET Validity

The Validity Period of the CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories

Marking Scheme For CTET Exam 2021

  • All questions in CTET will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four alternatives provided. One correct answer is to be chosen.
  • Each correct answer carries one mark and there will be no negative marking in CTET.

CTET Registration

Every year, more than 20 lakh candidates appear for the CTET exam. For CTET December 2019, close to 24 lakh candidates appeared out of which 5.42 lakh qualified, as per media reports. In July 2019, a total of 23.77 lakh aspirants took the CTET exam out of which 3.52 lakh candidates qualified. Let us have a look at the given image below:

CTET 2021 Qualifying Marks

Candidates appearing for CTET are considered CTET qualified only when they clear paper 1
OR
Both papers 1 and 2. A minimum score is needed for CTET Qualification.

  • The qualifying score is 60% for General category candidates, while it is relaxed for the reserved category.
  • CTET Qualifying Marks for SC/ ST category is 55%.

The official notification clearly mentions:

“Relaxation up to 5% in the qualifying marks in the minimum Educational Qualification for eligibility shall be allowed to the candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled”

Note: Candidates who qualify for Paper-1 despite appearing for both paper 1 and paper 2 will also be considered CTET qualified.

Also, as per CTET Rules,

  • School managements (Government, local bodies, government-aided and unaided) may consider giving concessions to persons belonging to SC/ST, OBC, differently-abled persons, etc., following their extant reservation policy.
  • Should give weightage to the CTET scores in the recruitment process, however, qualifying the CTET would not confer a right on any person for recruitment/employment as it is only one of the eligibility criteria for appointment

Validity Of CTET Marks

The Validity Period of the CTET qualifying certificate for appointment will be seven years from the date of declaration of its result for all categories

How many attempts are there in CTET Exam?

A candidate may appear some times for the CTET Exam. There is no limit to the number of attempts. A candidate may keep appearing in the exam to improve their score/ performance.

Documents To Carry For CTET 2021 Exam

  1. Candidates need to carry One Photo Identity Card with having the same Date of Birth as printed on CTET Admit Card 2021.
  2. If the Photo Identity Card does not have the Date of Birth then the candidate must carry an additional certificate, in original, as proof of Date of Birth.

Eligibility and Qualification for REET 2021

REET Eligibility and Qualification for Level 1

  • Candidates should be a senior secondary pass with at least 50% marks for class 5th Teacher.
  • In addition, the final year of Diploma in Elementary Pedagogy (B.L.Ed), appear or pass.
  • According to NCTE Regulations 2002, a second-year diploma in senior secondary or B.el.ed with at least 45% marks should be passed or appearing in the final year of courses.
  • Candidates must have passed or passed in the final year of Senior Secondary or 4 years B.L.Ed with at least 50%.
  • Graduate or in the last year or passed in the education course.

REET Eligibility and Qualification for Level 2

  • Passed Diploma in the second year in graduate or elementary education or completed the final year of this course.
  • At least 50% should be Graduate and passed in the first year of B.Ed or appearing in the second year of B.Ed.
  • As per NCTE Regulation, Graduate with at least 40% marks and passed the first year of B.Ed or appearing in the second year of B.Ed.
  • Candidates should be around 50% in senior secondary and passed the final year of 4 years B.L.ED. should be around 50% in senior secondary and have passed or appeared in the final year or 4 years BA / BSc. Ed or BA. Ed/ B.sc.Ed.

REET 2021: Minimum Qualifying Marks

A candidate must score at least 60% marks to get qualified for the interview round. There is no negative marking for REET exam and the candidate have to score overall qualifying marks to get selected for the recruitment. There are no criteria for section-wise qualification. For the candidates, Paper 1 is for the candidates who wish to become teachers of Class 1 to V while Paper 2 is for candidates who wish to teach Class VI to VIII. A candidate may apply for both the papers too.

The type of questions will be Objective Multiple Choice. The question paper will be bilingual medium, i.e both in English and Hindi.

CTET Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for CTET Exam. If a question is left unattempted or is marked wrong, the total marks of that question will not be taken into consideration.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates are required to score a minimum of 60% to qualify CTET Exam. One major thing to note is that the score of CTET is valid for 7 years after the result has been declared for the same by CBSE.

Eligibility criteria for CTET 2020

Eligibility criteria include the qualification of the candidate in terms of the education degrees/ achievements. The criteria for Class I to V is different from that of Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage). Applicants are requested to read about the eligibility criteria and then apply.

Eligibility criteria for Classes I to V

  • Primary Stage Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), following the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR
  • Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed). OR
  • Senior Secondary (or it’s equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education) OR
  • “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” “(a) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge
  • Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two years of such appointment as a primary teacher”.

Eligibility criteria for Classes VI to VIII (Elementary Stage)

  • Graduation and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education; OR
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed); OR
  • Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed); OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed); OR
  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed or B.A.-Ed/B.Sc.Ed; or Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed (Special Education).
  • Candidates who are appearing in the final year of bachelor degree in education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc are provisionally admitted and their CTET Certificate shall be valid only on passing the aforesaid examinations.
  • The candidate not having any of the above qualifications shall not be eligible for appearing in the Central Teacher Eligibility Test.
  • The candidate should satisfy his/her eligibility before applying and shall be personally responsible in case he/she is not eligible to apply as per the given eligibility criteria

CTET Age Limit Criteria

There is no age restriction for applying for CTET Exam. The age limit for CTET requires you to possess an education qualification such as B.El.Ed, B.Ed. (passed or final year appearing). There is no age bar for the application.

How to Prepare for CTET 2020?

Now, for a teaching exam or a TET Exam, a candidate must remember that there is no negative marking. Thus, one needs to be careful, and considerate of the scheme.

CTET Exam 2020 preparation requires one to be very thorough with the topics that are mentioned in the syllabus. Also, keep in mind the type of questions that have come in the previous year’s exam.

If NO negative marking is taken as an advantage, then be sure with your answers. And to be confident in the guesses, a candidate must be thorough on his or her concepts. Conceptual knowledge is the basis of any entrance exam.

You may be selective in the preparation of important topics, but remember to be complete (all-inclusive) in those topics.

If you are getting bored in between, try moving to the question papers to get an idea of the important questions, consistency in the appearance of certain topics/questions.

Do keep in mind confidence and conceptual knowledge hold the most important place in the exam.

You may be studying less, but study properly, even if it is one topic a day, but be complete in the same covering all aspects.

HP TET admits card 2020 has been released by Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE), Dharamshala for all the papers – TGT, JBT, Shastri, Urdu, and Punjabi. Candidates can download their HP TET admit card from the official website of the exam by using their application number and date of birth. It may be noted that HP TET admits card is a mandatory document to be carried to the allotted test center. Candidates not carrying their admit card on the day of the exam might not be allowed to give the paper.

How to download Admit Card of HP TET Admit Card

Candidates can download their HP TET Admit Card 2020 by following the steps given below:

  2. A new screen will appear for downloading the admit card
  3. Now enter your Application Number and Date of Birth to access the Admit Card
  4. Click on the Sign-in option to view your Admit card
  5. Your Admit Card will be displayed on your screen
  6. Click the print/ download button to save the HP TET Call Letter 2020 for your future reference.

Documents to carry with Admit Card:

  1. Candidates need to carry One Photo Identity Card with having the same Date of Birth as printed on Admit Card.
  2. If the Photo Identity Card does not have the Date of Birth then the candidate must carry an additional certificate, in original, as proof of Date of Birth.
  3. In case of mismatch in the Date of Birth mentioned in the Admission Certificate and the photo ID/the certificate brought in support of the Date of Birth, the candidate will not be allowed to appear in the examination.
  4. Passport size photographs.
