JEE 2020 | NEET 2020 Exam Postponed: The Coronavirus pandemic is continuing to take its toll on the education sector in the country. As was expected, the dates for the two of the most sought-after entrance examinations in the country i.e. JEE Mains 2020 and NEET 2020 have been postponed.

There were a lot of protests from the parents and students who were to appear for either of the exams to be conducted by NTA. A panel constituted by the HRD Minister, Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank recommended the postponement of JEE Mains 2020 and NEET 2020 due to the present situation in the country. While making the announcement, the HRD Minister tweeted that, “Keeping in mind the safety of students and to ensure quality education, we have decided to postpone JEE and NEET examinations.”

While announcing the deferment of both the entrance exams, the union HRD Minister, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also declared the new dates for the exams. As per the announcement made by the minister, the JEE Mains 2020 will now be conducted from 1st September 2020 to 6th September 2020 across multiple centers in the country. The date for JEE Advanced 2020 was also announced. The JEE Advanced 2020 Exam will now be conducted on 27th September 2020.
The Union HRD minister also announced the new dates for the NEET 2020 Exam. The entrance exam for medical and dental colleges will now be conducted on 13th September 2020. JEE, NEET Exam 2020: Decision taken after much deliberation
The government was facing a lot of pressure from the parents and students regarding the conducting of the JEE Mains 2020 and NEET 2020. Several petitions had also been filed in the court in this regard as well. It was being expected that the decision to defer the exams will be taken soon. On Thursday, the HRD Minister announced that, “Looking at the prevailing circumstances and requests received from students & parents appearing for JEE and NEET examinations, a committee consisting of officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and other experts has been advised to review the situation and submit its recommendations latest by tomorrow.”
After reviewing the reports, the decision to defer the exams was taken, bringing relief to the wary parents and students.
