SAT Exam 2020: The Coronavirus Pandemic keeps on taking its toll on the education sector in India quite severely. As of now, numerous exams have either been postponed or rescheduled, creating a lot of hassles for the students and throwing the academic calendar haywire. As per the latest updates shared by the HRD Minister, Mr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the government has taken a decision to postpone the SAT Exam 2020 due to the threat posed by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The SAT Exam 2020 was originally scheduled for 30th May 2020 but has now been postponed. It is being speculated that the exam will now be conducted in the month of July 2020, but no confirmed dates have been provided yet by the government. While announcing this important news on Twitter, the HRD Minister tweeted that, “Announcement. Considering the current #covidcrisis in the world & upon receiving requests from many international students, we have decided to postpone the IND-SAT 2020 Exam that was initially scheduled for 30th May ’20 to July’ 20. The date of the examination will be announced soon.”
SAT 2020 Exam: An Important Opportunity For Overseas Students
The SAT Exam 2020 was introduced by the Finance Minister, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman during her budget speech made on 1st February 2020. While introducing the exam, the minister stated that the “IND-SAT Exam will be held for Asian and African students for scholarships to ‘Study in India’.” This exam has been designed for Asian students and African students who wish to study in India. Selected students will be awarded scholarships under this initiative to facilitate their education in the country.
IND-SAT 2020 Exam: Details Regarding The Examination
IND-SAT Exam stands for the Indian Scholastic Assessment Test which is an online proctored standardized test for the students from Asia and Africa who wish to apply for a scholarship to study in India under the “Study in India (SII)” program of the government. The score of the students in the exam will be used as a benchmark to shortlist the deserving students who will be awarded scholarships for studying in India at some of the leading educational institutions across the country.
Most of the countries who will be participating in the SAT 2020 Exam are spread across Asia and Africa including, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, India, Mauritius, Nepal, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Kenya, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, and Zambia.
Now, that the IND-SAT Exam 2020 has been postponed till July 2020, candidates must wait for some more weeks, which can in fact be utilised to prepare for the exam.
