What Is CLAT?:

Common-Law Admission Test (CLAT) is one of the most sought after entrance examinations for law students in the country. It is a national level entrance exam which is conducted in order to select the most suitable candidates for admission to the Postgraduate and Undergraduate courses offered by the 22 National Law Universities situated across the country. CLAT is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) which is the representative body comprising all the National Law Universities in India. In order to register for CLAT, candidates need to complete their application form online and pay the registration fee as well.

 

CLAT 2020 Application Date

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, all educational activities have been seriously affected, including the CLAT 2020 Exam. The deadline for the CLAT 2020 has now been extended by the CNLU. As per the notification released by CNLU on 21st April 2020, the deadline for filing the application form for CLAT 2020 has been extended to 10th July 2020. This is an excellent opportunity for the candidates who could not fill their CLAT 2020 applications form previously. As the deadline is unlikely to be extended, further candidates must complete their online applications as soon as possible. Only online applications are accepted for CLAT 2020 Registration

 

CLAT 2020 Application Fee

The application fee that the candidates must pay to complete their registration for CLAT 2020 is: –

  • For candidates belonging to SC or ST Category –       Rs. 3,500/-
  • For candidates belonging to General, OBC, SAP, PwD  –      Rs. 4,000/-

 

CLAT 2020 Exam Date

Only those candidates who will complete their application forms before the deadline, i.e. 18th May 2020, will be able to appear for the CLAT 2020 Exam to be conducted on 22nd Aug 2020. The examination would be conducted across multiple examination centres in the country from 3.00 PM to 5.00 PM. Candidates must regularly check the website of CNLU @ www.consortiumofnlus.ac.in for regular updates regarding CLAT 2020.

 

CLAT 2020 Admit Card

The admit card will be released a few days before the examination on the website of CNLU only. So, the candidates must download their admit cards and take a printout along with photo id on the day of the examination. No candidate will be allowed to sit for CLAT 2020 without the admit card. The final answer key and the result for CLAT 2020 are expected to be announced in the month of Sept. 2020. The counselling process will commence thereafter and will be closed soon.

 

CLAT 2020 Eligibility

In order to be able to appear for CLAT Exams 2020, the candidates must fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria:-

CLAT Exams For the Postgraduate Courses

  • Minimum Marks: – Candidate must have obtained at least 55% marks in the LLB or other equivalent exams. Candidates from SC/ST category should have scored at least 50% marks in the exam.
  • Age Limit: – There is no applicable age limit prescribed for CLAT 2020.
  • Qualifying Exam: – Candidate must have scored the minimum prescribed marks in LLB or another equivalent exam.
  • Completion of Education: – Final year candidates are eligible to apply, but admission is subject to obtaining “Pass” marks in the exam on the date of admission.

CLAT Exams For The Undergraduate Courses

  • Minimum Marks: – Candidate must have obtained at least 45% marks in the class 12th exams or equivalent exam from a recognized board. Candidates from SC/ST category should have scored at least 40% marks in the exam.
  • Age Limit: – There is no applicable age limit prescribed for CLAT 2020.
  • Qualifying Exam: – Candidate must have scored the minimum prescribed marks in class 12th exams or another equivalent exam.
  • Completion of Education: – Candidates awaiting their results are eligible to apply, but admission is subject to obtaining “Pass” marks in the exam on the date of admission

 

CLAT 2020 Exams Pattern

The examination pattern for CLAT 2020 has been mentioned below:-

  • CLAT 2020 Exam will be held in offline mode, i.e. pen and paper mode.
  • The duration of the CLAT Exam 2020 will be 2 hours.
  • The mode of the questions will be Multiple Choice Questions.
  • The question paper for PG candidates will be divided into two sections, i.e. Objective and Descriptive.
  • The total number of questions in the CLAT 2020 Exam will be 150 for UG courses and 100 for PG Courses and two subjective questions.
  • Each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark. Each subjective question for PG Courses will carry 25 marks.
  • Each incorrect answer will attract a penalty of 0.25 marks.
  • The language of the CLAT Exam 2020 will be English only.
