Sol. Alkalinity is due to HCO_3^-
Alkalinity = 244/61×50 Mg\l as CaCO_3
= 200 mg/L

Sol. [OH^- ]=10^(-6.4)×10^(-3) Moles/l = 10^(-9.4) moles/l
p^[OH] = 9.4
Now p^H+p^OH=14⇒p^H=14-9.4=4.6

S3. Ans.(d)
Sol. Hardness is due to the multivalent cations present in water. The most common constituents are calcium and magnesium ions (Ca^(2+)& Mg^(2+) )
