GATE Admissions 2020: IIT Delhi to conduct online interviews for MTech admissions- Details here
GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering was held in the month of February this year by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Students who have passed the exam were supposed to appear for a counseling interview for their admission in different IITs across the country. But the interview session was interrupted due to the announcement of the Lockdown in the country by the Government.
The good news is that now the IIT Delhi is starting to conduct the interviews online so that the candidates can appear for the interview through the means of Skype and Google. Also, the director of IIT Delhi has mentioned that this year the candidates for MTech admissions will be selected purely on their score and the video conferencing that will be held.
Admission and Dates
The exams for GATE were held from 1st February to 9th February 2020. The result of the exam was out by 16th March 2020. Now, the online interviews or video counseling of the candidates will start from 18th May 2020 and will last till 17th June 2020.
Different IITs are allowing the candidates to apply after the results of GATE are out. Candidates now can apply to places such as IIT Delhi and IIT Goa till 10th May 2020. Also, IIT Kanpur has extended its application date till 4th May 2020 for the convenience of the candidates.
For admission, the candidates also may have to apply on the COAP or Common Offers Acceptance Portal along with the websites of the institutes. The first round of such applications should begin on 27th May 2020 and there should be somewhere around 5 rounds in total that will stretch till 25th June 2020.
Due to the lockdown situation, the admission procedure of the candidates for MTech has come to a halt. IIT Delhi has come up with an efficient way to let the candidates continue with the admission procedure. It is yet to be known how the IITs of other states across the country are about to carry forward the admission procedure of the candidates who are applying after the GATE exam.
