Solutions
S1. Ans.(c)
Sol. If a point load acting at the mid span of a fixed beam, then fixed end moment will be
M=wl/8=60 kN.m (given)—(1)
Give, same load spread as UDL then fixed end moment will be –
M^’=(wl^2)/12
=(w×l×l)/12
=Wl/12 (∵W=w×l)
1/12×wl/8×8
=1/12×60×8 (wl/8=60 from eq^n (1)
▭(M^’=40 kN.m)
S2. Ans.(c)
Sol. ▭(Relative stability (S_r )=(Amount of oxygen available in effluent)/(Total amount of oxygen required in 1st stage BOD))
S3. Ans.(a)
Sol. The observed hydrometer reading is further being corrected by following –
Meniscus correction (Cm)
Temperature correction (C_T )
Dispersing agent correction (C_D )
→ Meniscus correction is always positive & dispersing agent correction is always negative.
→ If temperature greater than 27°c then temperature correction is Positive and when temperature is less than 27°C then temperature correction is negative.
S4. Ans.(b)
Sol. ▭(Modular Ratio (m)=(Modulas of elasticity of steel(E_s ))/(Modulus of plasticity of concrete(E_c ) ))
E_s=2×10^5 N\/mm^2
E_c=5000 √fck (Acc. To IS 456:2000)
S5. Ans.(d)
Sol. 1 cm = 100 km.
1 cm = 100,000,00 cm
▭(R.F.1/100,000,00)
S6. Ans.(a)
Sol. Calcining is the process of converting limestone into quick lime by heating it to temperature up to 900°C and releasing carbon di-oxide. It is also known as calcination.
CaCO_3 —————— CaO+CO_2
CaCO_3=Limestone or Calcium Carbonate
CaO=Quick lime
